Children in Need

Every year, we take part in BBC's Children in Need fundraising day to help make positive and lasting change to children and young people across the UK.

When is BBC Children in Need 2024?

This year, BBC Children in Need will be taking place on Friday 15th November 2024. This will mark the 43rd TV Appeal to raise money for disadvantaged children and young people around the UK. The very first BBC Children in Need telethon was broadcast in 1980 and the annual appeal has continued every year since, taking place each November.

What is BBC Children in Need?

BBC Children in Need is a charity that provides grants and funding to projects based in the UK that have the aim of helping disadvantaged young people. Children in Need’s invaluable work involves supporting charities that help children who have been affected by poverty, disabilities, abuse, and mental health difficulties.

Children in Need currently supports over 3,000 projects in communities across the UK, all of which aim to improve the lives of children. To support this fantastic work, each year, in November, the BBC hosts an appeal show that features appearances from celebrities and comedians in order to raise money for the charity.

How much did Children in Need raise last year?

A fantastic £35 million was raised on the night of Children in Need's 2022 TV Appeal. How much can we make this year?

How will we get involved in Children in Need 2024?

We will plan a fundraising event in our school using resources from Twinkl, who is proud to be BBC Children in Need’s Official Education Partner.  They have lots of Children in Need learning resources to help us join in with the excitement of this important event. You can use this EYFS All About BBC Children in Need PowerPoint for little ones to learn a little more about this special occasion.

We usually have some Pudsey-themed activities that excite and engage, and are linked to the curriculum.
