Welcome

Welcome to Field House Infant School and Nursery; a school which I am extremely proud to have been leading since September 2022.  I would like to take this opportunity to give you a brief introduction to the school, outlining its vision and values.

We are a happy, friendly, infant school and nursery, catering for children aged three to seven years. We are situated in the midlands county of Derbyshire, serving the area of Ilkeston, which is a town in the Borough or Erewash. 

We are a two form entry school and currently have approximately 200 pupils on roll.  We are very lucky to have our own Governor-Led nursery. The nursery can accommodate up to 24 children in both the morning and afternoon sessions.  We offer a flexible mixture of 15 and 30 hours for those who are eligible, with different arrangements in place tailored to varied childcare needs.

All areas of the school provide high-quality learning and teaching environments. In the main school, there are two classes per year group (nursery, reception, year one and year two), and we are supported by a dedicated and skilled team of teachers and teaching and learning assistants, who are committed to helping each child achieve their full potential in all areas of school life.

The children are taught through a broad, balanced and creative curriculum that incorporates a wide range of first-hand experiences.  We place a great emphasis on teaching fundamental skills and are passionate that every child leaves us able to read with confidence, fluency, expression and understanding.  

At our school we work hard to make sure that it is a safe, happy and supportive place where everyone can 'Aspire and Believe to Achieve'. We expect everyone to: Be Kind, Work Hard and Believe!

We enjoy involving parents and carers and the wider community in the life of the school and we are always delighted to welcome visitors and show them our wonderful school.
