Welcome to Dazzling Dragonflies and Great Grasshoppers

We are really looking forward to working with your child this year and we can't wait to get started! At Field House Infant School and Nursery we have worked hard to design our EYFS Curriculum with the children at the heart of it, thinking about what our children need to have the best possible start to school life, preparing them for a successful, happy and exciting learning journey. 

In Nursery we put great emphasis on child-led activities which encourage the children to explore a wide range of activities and experiences, both inside and outside. We have lots of fun learning through play, we focus on developing children's early language and play skills and support them as they begin to form relationships with children and adults. 

Parental engagement is very important to us. We believe that children are more successful when their learning is supported at school and home, and we provide opportunities for parents to come and participate in sessions to see what their children have been learning. 

The children will have Group Time where they will take part in a variety of taught sessions taken from the Early Years Curriculum. Our teacher- led activities are mainly designed to introduce children to new concepts, vocabulary and topics. This learning is reinforced through child initiated sessions, where children apply their learning in a resource- rich learning environment.

We are very lucky to have a fabulous outdoor learning space which we access on a daily basis. 

Mrs Woodcock, Miss Bennett and Mrs Dickens are looking forward to getting to know you and your children and enjoying a busy year of learning together.
