Graduated Response Offer
Our Graduated Response to SEND at Field House Infant and Nursery School
At Field House Infant and Nursery School, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, included and able to thrive. We recognise that children learn and develop in different ways and that some may need additional support to achieve their full potential.
Our Graduated Response Offer outlines how we identify, support and monitor children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It provides a clear framework for the support available across school and demonstrates our commitment to inclusive practice for all pupils.
What is a Graduated Response?
A Graduated Response is a step-by-step approach to supporting children who may be experiencing barriers to learning. Support is matched to a child's individual needs and can be increased or adapted as required.
At Field House, support is organised into three levels:
Universal Support (for all pupils)
High-quality inclusive teaching is the foundation of our approach. Every classroom is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of learners through effective teaching strategies, carefully planned learning environments, visual supports, structured routines and adaptive teaching.
Targeted Support (SEN Support)
Where a child requires additional help, targeted interventions and support strategies may be introduced. These are carefully selected to address specific areas of need and are regularly reviewed to ensure they are making a positive difference.
Specialist Support (SEND Support / EHCP)
For some children, more personalised provision may be required. This can involve specialist assessments, advice from external professionals, individual programmes, adapted resources, bespoke timetables or support outlined within an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Areas of Need We Support
Our Graduated Response Offer details the support available across the four broad areas of SEND:
Communication and Interaction
Cognition and Learning
Social, Emotional and Mental Health
Sensory and/or Physical Needs
Within each area, we identify potential indicators of need and outline the range of support available at universal, targeted and specialist levels.
Working in Partnership
We believe that successful support is built on strong relationships between school, parents, carers and external professionals. We work closely with families throughout the graduated response process ensuring that children's strengths, interests and needs remain at the centre of all decisions.
An Inclusive school for every child
Our Graduated Response Offer includes a wide range of interventions, therapeutic approaches, adaptive provision, environmental strategies and communication systems. Most importantly, it reflects our belief that every child deserves to feel successful, supported and included within our school community.
